Ginger Beer, Vodka, lime juice. I use Goya brand ginger beer as it’s way cheaper than most other brands. It’s fairly sweet, but has enough ginger kick to make you cough if you breathe in before taking a sip (like I tend to do). It’s really easy to drink, and not at all difficult to have several of in short order.

My recipe, in a 12 oz “pint” glass:

3-4 ice cubes

.5 oz lime juice

1.75 oz Vodka (I like Svedka)

half a bottle of Goya ginger beer

I’m not sure a better overall beer exists for my taste buds. Lagunitas’ failures are better than most breweries’ standouts.

their berliner (also comes in raspberry and blueberry varieties) is a sour beer. Sort of lemony-wheat. If you’ve never had a sour beer before it’s pretty weird but i’m hooked on em.

ordering drinks you’re typically stuck with Jameson. Jameson is good whiskey, if a touch overpriced in my opinion. When you get into the higher levels, it’s REALLY good. 18 year Jameson is one of the best Irish Whiskey’s I’ver ever tasted.

Teeling Small Batch is pricey at $40 bucks a bottle, but it’s EPIC. Runs with Redbreast, which is 50-55 bucks a bottle.

For whatever reason I’m not too into whiskey. I have a friend who loves it though, so I will drink it with him. I appreciate it but I dunno, it just doesn’t do it for me. But oddly enough I love scotch.

I actually don’t care much for Johnnie Black, it’s not very good scotch. In fact nothing by Johnnie really does that much for me, including the coveted blue label (thanks, open bar at Four Seasons!).

There are a couple really cool websites that will send out sampler packs. They aren’t cheap but at least you’re not blindly forking over 50 bucks.

Let me know if you’re interested.

Or, if you find yourself in Metro Detroit, stop over for a Whiskey.

I don’t necessarily think that’s true, but maybe you have expensive tastes, or just haven’t found one you like. For example, I really don’t like Johnnie Walker, but it’s all I have. I’ve even tried Blue Label and I’d rather drink Macallan 10 year.

I really like Glen Livets 15 year and Glenmorangie Original, both of which are affordable and quite good in my opinion.

They do, there’s a few tricks though.

1. it’s gotta be good whiskey, there’s no ice to turn into water to help with taste when you use the stones.

2. keep the level of whiskey slightly lower than the level of the stones for optimum cooling.

I got mine off of Amazon. They’re cheap, and they make you look like a badass when you serve some whiskey to your buddies.

Funny you should ask. The night started with beer. Then we went to another bar and drank beer. Then we went to my house and drank beer. Then Matt Kemp became the first Padre to ever hit for the cycle. Then we cracked a bottle of Perrier Jouet flower bottle, because we were super excited. Then the neighbors called the police, because we partied so hard they thought someone was being murdered. Then we explained ourselves to the police, who laughed at us. Then we drank more beer. It’s been an excellent night.
